Sitting along the western shores of Lake Ontario, Burlington is a beautiful waterfront city sandwiched between Hamilton and Oakville. With Toronto just 57 kilometres to the east, Burlington is a comparatively relaxed environment offering a comfortable lifestyle and a great sense of community. Along with Milton to the north, Burlington forms the west end of the Greater Toronto Area, and is also part of the Hamilton metropolitan census area
Buying a Home in Burlington. Being a city between a lake and an escarpment, many properties in Burlington come with beautiful views as well as convenient access to numerous recreational activities. Burlington condos and townhomes are increasingly becoming a popular option for new home buyers, with luxury options available along the lakeshore. A wide selection of single-family home options are available from century properties near downtown, to newer developments as the city has expanded.
Brant and Maple include downtown shops, restaurants and attractions closer to the waterfront. Newer condo and townhome developments mix with historic residential neighbourhoods to create a walkable urban charm. Rich in culture, this part of the city contains dining choices from Persian to Mediterranean cuisine and hosts many of the city’s festivals. The downtown core is the more vibrant part of the city with live events at The Burlington Performing Arts Centre as well as its Farmer’s Market in Centro Garden.
